Public Notes: |
The City of Leavenworth is requesting proposals for design and installation of a Ventilation and HVAC system to resolve odor and humidity problems for the basement areas of City Hall. The City Hall building has a cast in place concrete basement. There is a large tunnel that crosses beneath the floor of the building in an east to west direction. The tunnel houses a sanitary sewer line.
There is a sub-basement that houses a 1924 boiler that is abandoned in place. The floor drain from the current “Boiler Room” is known to drain into the sub- basement floor drain. It is unknown if the sub-basement drain is equipped with a trap. The sub-basement is an area known to be odiferous.
The sanitary sewer line is clay tile that has been lined with a cured in place plastic system. To the staff’s knowledge there are no open connections to the sanitary sewer system in the tunnel. There are two access points into the tunnel.
The current basement has several electric heaters that have been found to be expensive to utilize. The plan should review the cost of operation and the potential for eliminating these units.
The building HVAC system is a two pipe hot/chilled water system. Much of the existing condensate drainage system is utilizing abandoned steam piping. Some of these lines need attention as part of the proposed projects. |
